What is the Endocannabinoid system?
The endocannabinoid (ECS) regulates many bodily functions and processes by interacting with our body’s receptors. E.g – stress, appetite, pain, memory etc.
This is an internal system in our bodies that helps to regulate endocannabinoids (cannabinoids that occur naturally in the human body). Endocannabinoids interact with cannabinoid receptors which in turn modulate many critical bodily functions such as pain, appetite, mood and sleep. Why does this matter?
It’s simple! Think of the ECS as your body’s supervisor.
For example, you are feeling stressed about your social football teams’ final game next week. Your brain sends out messages to your stress receptors which heightens your feeling of unease or increases your stress levels.
If you are feeling too stressed, then it is up to the ECS to regulate the effect. In a lot of pain? The ECS then modulates the effect on your pain receptors. Incredible right?
Similar to the human body, the Endocannabinoid System or ECS functions in other animals including dogs and cats.
But this isn’t all the ECS is capable of!
WHAT IS CBD'S IMPORTANCE FOR THE ECS?
As you can see, the ECS has an indefinitely important role in our body. But how can we help our ECS along with its day to day duties?
The answer is the cannabinoid called cannabidiol (CBD). This cannabinoid actively interacts with the ECS to ease the duress of its daily activities. CBD and the ECS actively communicate to make your body run smoothly!
Its like the oil in your car! If your car doesn’t have oil, then the engine will seize, and the car will stop. Therefore, CBD oil helps move the motor of your body so you can make the most of your day without stoppages!
